The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is one of a network of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). As a global leader in agroforestry research and development, ICRAF’s ultimate purpose is to improve human welfare by reducing poverty, increasing cash income, improving food and nutritional security, and increasing environmental resilience through improved agroforestry systems. ICRAF has it’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenyaand works in 21 countries throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America.
In 1993, the World Agroforestry Centre opened a program for Southeast Asia with Bogor, inIndonesia, as its regional headquarters. We currently work in five Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and China.
The Position
The accountant facilitates the organization financial transactions in proper manner in accordance to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the organization requirements (CGIAR, ICRAF, and Donors) in order to provide timely and accurate financial information.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks:

To handle cash disbursements, cash flow, reporting and reconciliation including:

Ensure the transactions are carried out in accordance to the Center’s financial and administrative policies and procedures

Ensure appropriate supporting documents for transactions including receipts,
-
Record financial transactions following proper classification of accounts and grant budget lines in the SUN System
-

To handle overtime, travel expenses and reconciliation of staff advances
-
Analyze accruals & prepare monthly reconciliation

To assist accounting of research contracts with other institutions and students – more than 50 contracts per annum, this includes:

To review contracts to ensure terms and conditions in line with ICRAF and Donor’s requirements

To prepare disbursement and liaise with collaborators
-
To verify & record collaborators financial reports (expenses and receipts) – validate and check against approved budget per contracts

To maintain collaborator database (proposal, contracts, reports, phases of payment released to collaborators, liquidations of advance payments) in the project management
-
To maintain financial records/files and to facilitate project annual audit and internal audit

To provide financial information as requested by client (e.g. project expenses, personal accounts)

To assist grant reporting (spool data, prepare report)
Qualifications and Skills Required:
This position requires at least the following qualifications and capacities:
-
S-1 or D3 Accounting
-
Preferably has at least 2 years experience in related field
-
Proficiency in written and spoken English
-
Self motivated, willing to work independently, flexible and able to work in a team
-
Good analytical skills
-
Having a good interpersonal skill
-
Familiar with SUN SYSTEM and good computer & internet skills (MS Office)
Terms of offer
- This is a Nationally Professional Fixed Term position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
- The contract is for a period of 1 (one) year, with possibility of renewal, subject to assessment of performance, and availability of resources.
